SAUGERTIES, NY (December 5, 2013) – HITS Triathlon Series announced today that a record-high 1,700 athletes will race at this weekend’s HITS Championship in Palm Springs, California.
The HITS championship will welcome athletes to one of the largest Full distance fields it has seen so far in the 2013 series, as well as a sold out Half distance. Additionally, Sunday’s Sprint and Olympic races will boast roughly 800 participants.
“Thanks to two years of improvements, the HITS Championship is now attracting serious numbers,” said HITS Race Director Mark H. Wilson. “With some minor course adjustments, impressive merchandise and coveted athlete swag, as well as other improvements, Palm Springs is becoming the crown jewel of the series.”
Among the improvements to the 2013 Championship event, HITS Triathlon Series has partnered with Jaguar Innovative Timing Systems to introduce the ITS YOUR RACE mobile smartphone application. The app is a free full-featured tool available to all Apple or Android phones. Information including schedules, local attractions and much more will be available to spectators and athletes of all distances throughout the entire race weekend.
Live athlete tracking will be featured during Saturday’s 70.3 and 140.6. Participants will also enjoy easy bib lookup and the ability to connect their social media accounts for instant results posting on race day. Additionally, spectators who wish to receive minute-by-minute result updates via the web should visit HitsTriathlonSeries.com.
“Now that our races have established a solid reputation among the multisport community, we are dedicated to taking HITS Triathlon Series to the next level and these technological advances have us well on our way,” added Wilson.
Race weekend activities, including a sizeable fitness expo, will begin Friday at 2pm at Lake Cahuilla Park. Vendors will include multisport, endurance and lifestyle products, demos and services. For more information on the HITS Championship, visit HitsTriathlonSeries.com.
